The Accord’s 192-hp version is at least nominally close to the CR-V unit, with its 10.3:1 compression ratio, direct fuel injection, and VTEC variable valve-timing system. All variants use essentially the same hardware, including the Mitsubishi TD03 single-scroll turbocharger. What varies is the software, boost levels, and, in the case of the Civic Si, a preference for premium fuel.
Lohscheller said Opel will enter more than 20 new markets by 2022, with Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan among countries identified as potential export markets. Opel also is exploring whether to sell cars in China and Brazil, he said.
But don’t go thinking that Jaguar has abandoned what it has always been famous for – namely, creating high-powered, luxurious, rear-wheel-drive saloons. First seen in camouflaged guise going up the hill at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, this new (and we use that world very lightly) XJR 575 is the most powerful version of Jaguar’s flagship saloon to date.
As with most modern BMW models, drivers will be able to select between Comfort, Eco Pro and Sport driving modes, which adjust the gearbox, engine and steering settings. Optional dynamic dampers can also be specified and can be placed in either Comfort or Sport modes. This also lowers the car's ride height slightly.
The Office of Statistical Control kept track of the logistics of all air operations -- pilots, airplanes and bombs -- as well as training, without the assistance of a computer.
Opel will stop importing cars into Europe from GM's South Korean plants, which adds to currency risks and ties up working capital, Lohscheller said. The move will improve production capacity in its European factories where the PACE plan targets 100 percent utilization by 2020.
When parked up, the vehicle automatically adjusts the steering wheel and driver’s seat so that exiting the vehicle doesn’t turn into a laborious process. The software will remember the driver settings so that when you get back into the vehicle and step on the brake, it will return to the driver’s preferred driving position.
This was also an era, don’t forget, when the green brigade began its inagrual march for fuel efficiency. But unlike today, when it's all about downsized engines and hybrid technology, in the late 1980s the buzzword was aerodynamics. And with its thoroughly modern lines and flush-fitting windows, the Cavalier Mk3 boasted a slippery drag coefficient of just 0.29 versus the Mk2’s 0.37. Overnight, it had made every one of its rivals look faintly prehistoric.
Where the Micra shines is with it’s steering. Yes, it is lighter and less feelsome than the best in class, but at low speeds the car is easy to thread through tight spaces, and yet direct and accurate when you want to corner with gusto. Add in Nissan’s Chassis Control traction system, which brakes individual wheels to help corner tighter, gives this little supermini superb balance in the corners.
As part of its new turnaround plan, Opel is exploring potential new markets for cars and light trucks outside of its European heartland.
