Theft of materials was common. The company paid suppliers by check rather than wire transfer.
Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford and the great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford, called Miller "an extraordinary leader" who had a profound impact on the competitiveness and resurgence of Ford Motor Co. at a key juncture.
But there is more to a good supermini than standing out in a crowd. It needs to remain practical enough for family life and decent to drive. Admittedly, the Micra lacks the overall polish that makes the latest Seat Ibiza and Ford Fiesta both stand out performers. But the little Nissan goes about its business quietly and with minimal fuss, with only fidgety ride at low speeds providing a real grumbling point. Although I suspect sticking with 16in wheels rather the optional 17s fitted to our car would cure that issue.
Under the bonnet, UK buyers will be offered a 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 178bhp and 430Nm of torque, sending power to a selectable all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Features such as hill descent control, trailer assist and hill start assist will be standard equipment in the UK.
Short answer: pretty much everything. The powertrains are all new, the car has been completely redesigned, the infotainment system is brand new, and there is a mountain of new standard active safety technology. Also, the Accord’s two-door variant has passed beyond the veil, marking the final transit of the mass-market mid-size coupe. Two turbocharged four-cylinder engines now make up the Accord’s nonhybrid powertrain lineup, replacing a naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a V-6. A hybrid variant will join the rest of the family on dealer lots in early 2018, rounding out the new Accord’s lineup.
As soon as the covers were pulled off the Arona, we swooped in to get the inside line from our readers – and potential SEAT customers.
Those who want their very own theme-park ride can buy the Shelby GT350 for $58,045; that’s about $22,000 more than a regular Mustang GT without options. The track-focused GT350R costs an extra $7500 but adds aggressive aerodynamics, even more aggressive chassis tuning, and lightweight 19-inch carbon-fiber wheels with wider Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 near-race-spec tires. This stripped-down version saves weight by eliminating the back seat, air conditioning, audio system, and other equipment. The seats can be reinstalled by a dealer, and the rest can be optioned back in with the R Electronics package for $3000. While the GT350R is incredible on the racetrack, we’d prefer to drive the GT350 on a regular basis. It has standard equipment such as:
However, many people in that situation will often ‘panic freeze’, and continue to look in front of them and not use the steering to avoid a collision. To stop this from happening, shout ‘brake and steer’. Saying this out loud should help you focus your thought process, giving you time to act appropriately to avoid hitting anything.
Power and torque from the Triton V10 were good for 0-60 in 22.4 on the first launch and 19.0 seconds on the second, both measured with the Racelogic timer. Not reassuring but about par for the category. I drove the rig up to about 6,000 feet in the Sierras; then, as the road got narrower and maybe the power got less, I pulled over and enjoyed the view from there.
Optional assistance features include a parking assistance, lane departure warning, a speed limit warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Driving Assistant Plus package includes adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistance, meaning the car can accelerate, brake and steer itself within a lane at speeds of up to 87mph. The driver must have at least one hand on the steering wheel for it to work, though.
